WEBINAR ON-DEMAND
Putting Pencil to the Page: Supporting Writing with Decodable Texts
Maybe you’re making headway with reading in your classroom, but writing time still feels like a struggle. The good news? Those decodable books you’ve already been using for reading can ALSO help with writing!
In this on-demand session, Putting Pencils to the Page: Supporting Writing with Decodable Texts, we discuss:
✏️ How to use decodables to strengthen transcription, sentence structure, and syntax
✏️ Strategies to connect directly to all five strands of the Writing Rope
✏️ Practical routines like dictation, guided writing, and short constructed responses
💡 Research shows that when students write about what they read, they retain more phonics knowledge and build stronger comprehension. Writing about reading helps our students accelerate their literacy skills.
