Students are naturally curious. They want to explore the world around them. One of the best ways we can do this is through the use of nonfiction texts in our classrooms. Yet, some teachers might feel intimidated about incorporating nonfiction texts into a structured literacy classroom.
Nonfiction decodable texts are an excellent resource for supporting early literacy development. They provide students with the opportunity to apply phonics skills to real-world content while building background knowledge. In this session, we’ll explore how incorporating these texts can boost reading comprehension, foster critical thinking, and promote vocabulary development.
